Men apprehended in Walgreens robbery
A San Jose man and a transient were arrested July 10 on charges of robbing a Walgreens store in Willow Glen.
According to San Jose police spokeswoman Gina Teeporten, Kevin Hendon, 48, and Kevin Barner, 46, walked into the Walgreens, 1615 Meridian Ave., at 1:42 p.m. carrying plastic bags. When the two men walked out, Barner placed the plastic bags over the sensor machines, triggering the alarms.
Police said the two men left the store and headed toward Leigh Avenue on Montemar Way. Witnesses gave the police a description of the men.
Police found the two men at Montemar Way and Phantom Avenue. Both men were carrying plastic Ross bags, which contained two stolen cameras, a Polaroid and a Kodak. The men did not have receipts for the merchandise. Police also found Hendon in possession of marijuana.
The two men were taken to the Santa Clara County Jail and booked on charges of burglary, conspiracy and violating parole. The stolen merchandise was returned to Walgreens.

Asthma camp begins
33rd year in San Jose
Breathe California's summer camp program, Camp Superstuff, is designed specifically for children age 6 through 12 who have asthma.
Each day campers participate in asthma-related lessons to help them understand their condition, recognize attack triggers, know when and how to take their medication and learn other strategies to manage their disease.
Facilitated by trained camp staff, the health education curriculum incorporates role-playing activities, games and open dialogue to engage the children and make learning fun.
The camp provides a fun and safe environment where campers can interact with other children who are afflicted by the same disease. Traditional camp activities include swimming, sports, art projects and field trips to local attractions such as Great America.
Camp Superstuff takes place from July 31 to Aug. 4 at the Camden Community Center, 3369 Union Ave.
