Obituaries

Loyd Nesbitt

Loyd Nesbitt of Willow Glen died July 8, just shy of his 82nd birthday, after a brief illness. Born in Fargo, N.D., he came to California in the late 1960s to work for General Electric Company, where he was employed for 48 years.

He meet his wife, Rudy Lee, in Miami during World War II. He was in the Air Force, and she was in the Navy. The Nesbitts began their married life in New Jersey, where they both attended Rutgers University. He studied physics, and she studied library science. His work took the couple and their three children to New York and then later to Willow Glen, where they lived in the same home since 1968.

The couple celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary last December.

The Nesbitts wife were active members of the American Legion Post 318 in Willow Glen.

Nesbitt was also a member of the Santa Clara Rifle Club, where he taught hunter and gun safety along with marksmanship to adults and children. Through the rifle club, he often worked with youth groups, including the Boy and Girl Scouts and the 4-H Club.

Nesbitt is survived by his wife, Rudy Lee; his daughter Maggie Nesbitt of Oregon and two sons, Loyd B. Nesbitt of San Jose, and Sgt. Matthew Nesbitt, who is stationed in Atlanta, Ga.; and five grandchildren, Danielle Phillips, Joshua Loyd Nesbitt, Shannon Marie Nesbitt, Robert James Nesbitt and Edwin J. Fountaine.
