People, please use the
sidewalk; it's safer

For the life of me, I cannot figure out why joggers and walkers, with strollers no less, insist on walking in the street when the sidewalks in Willow Glen are perfectly viable.

These individuals are not just crossing the street but walking for blocks at a time in the middle of the road. The sidewalks are completely clear.

This isn't downtown, this is happening on narrow residential streets. Sometimes these joggers and walkers are side by side, blocking an entire lane. I've seen one jogger pushing a stroller, with an infant inside, down Lincoln in the evenings, and now it gets dark earlier.

This seems awfully dangerous, not to mention a possible jaywalking issue.

If there are sidewalks, please use them. This would avoid hazards such as cars, cyclists, motorscooters, garbage bins and leaf piles.

Is there a downside to using sidewalks that I'm unaware of?

I understand that asphalt is better for your knees and shins, but what is more important, saving your shins, or avoiding the hospital?
