Jeni Strouss' care
is something special

Thank you so much for the article about Jeni and Bill Strouss ("Jeni Strouss cares for littlest souls," Nov. 29).

Years ago, when we were given just a few days' notice about our adopted son's newborn sibling, the first person I went to see was Jeni at Little Things.

Even though we had adopted four other children in addition to our original three, it had been nearly 20 years since we'd had a newborn. Within moments, Jeni not only had me fully equipped, but the encouragement and support she lent got me through many a midnight feeding.

Besides being a foster parent, Jeni is to be commended for her yearly visits to Eastern European orphanages, where she brings supplies, toys and her very special care. These are countries where adoption is not permitted, so the children often experience rather stark, institutional care.

We miss visiting Jeni on our trips to Lincoln Avenue, but hold good thoughts of her family, including the many children and families that she has cared for. She has helped so many children blossom, including ours, whom she always welcomed at Little Things.
