Private contractors
good idea for park

Walking the block around the Municipal Rose Garden with my dog, I get to speak with many neighbors. And as I garden in my front yard, I talk with the neighbors passing by. Such is life in the Rose Garden area. Many neighbors like the idea of outsourcing the upkeep of the Rose Garden park to private contractors. They have seen it decline, even when it had a full city staff. The staff just didn't seem to be that productive. To be fair, two people I spoke with were really against outsourcing the maintenance at the park, and went on a really long time about why outsourcing is such a horrible idea. After they were finished, I had one question for them, "Are you a member of a union?" Both paused and said "yes, but...." That was all I needed to know.
