Lincoln Glen junior all-stars lose two, then win a game at Western Regional

By Kevin Sparrer

Idaho doesn't have anything on California baseball. Well, at least not on the Lincoln Glen Little League junior division all-star team.

Lincoln Glen recently traveled to Beaverton, Ore., where it has been taking part in the Western Regional Little League Tournament. Its most recent game was its only win in the tourney, following championships in District 12, Section 5 and Division 2 play.

Lincoln Glen topped Idaho 15-9 on Aug. 4. The team represents the West Valley Little League in Eagle, Idaho.

Lincoln Glen struggled early in the tournament, falling 9-1 on July 31 to the Red Mountain National Little League from Mesa, Ariz. The locals were disappointed again on Aug. 1, losing 6-2 to the Pearl City Little League from Pearl City, Hawaii.

Lincoln Glen, the Northern California representative in the tourney, was set to face Utah on Aug. 6 in the find game of pool play. The team comes from Cedar American Little League in Cedar City, Utah.

The other team in the pool was from the Murrayhill Little League in Beaverton, Ore.

The teams in the other pool were from Montana, Nevada, Southern California, Alaska and Washington.

The members of the Lincoln Glen team are Mark Amann, Alex Behrendt, Andrew Casalegno, Joe De Cecco, Jason De La Rocha, Matt Glomb, Will Hein, Ryan Morfin, Kris Olugbode, Kyle Ray, Johnny Riley, Spencer Sauke, K.C. Sullivan and Jake Wilson.
