Safeway store also
has problems with
dirt from air filter
I was really happy to read the story on the Curtner Safeway in the Willow Glen Resident ("Shoppers unhappy with freshness and quality at Curtner Safeway," Nov.9). My wife and I have been shopping there for many years. This used to be a really clean and well-run store. The change seems to have occurred when there was a management change sometime back.
I have been there several times lately when the store was even out of milk, a basic commodity. I have also been there when there was only one person working in the produce department. That individual was working very hard to get the items on the shelf and then was called to check or do something else. It's no wonder the shelves weren't stocked.
I have to agree with one of the people quoted regarding the friendliness of the workers, though.
I have two other complaints that I have mentioned to management there in the past. The air filter near the ceiling by the milk has been totally covered with dirt and dust. I know the gunk was dropping in the food area. The other complaint I have is the gunk on the shopping carts. I would rather carry around my purchases than put them in a cart.
I mentioned that to the manager as well, and I have not seen any action.
I would be interested in hearing what the employees have to say about working at the store or maybe they would be afraid of losing their jobs if they spoke out.
Thank you for printing the story. It's a good one.
