Getting Coverage - Schools
Education issues and school news are an important part of our coverage. We try to publicize events at all the schools in our circulation areas as well as the neighborhood schools that serve local residents. It would be much simpler for us if neighborhood boundaries and school district boundaries were the same, but they are not. In addition, the option of school choice can mean that some local students attend schools outside their neighborhood, and vice versa. Our goal is to do as comprehensive a job as possible without going so far out of our local circulation area that we can no longer claim to be "local."
Please let us know of upcoming events at least two weeks before publication date. Press releases deadlines are listed below. Remember that the more advance notice we have, the better we can plan appropriate coverage.
Press release deadlines are as follows:
- Wednesday at noon (1 week prior to Wednesday publication): The Campbell Reporter, Cupertino Courier, Los Gatos Weekly Times, Saratoga News, The Sunnyvale Sun & Willow Glen Resident
- Thursday at noon (1 week prior to Thursday publication): Almaden Resident, Rose Garden Resident, West San Jose Resident
We are always interested in hearing about interesting classroom projects, innovative teachers and local angles reflecting trends in education.
